For more than 100 years, Switzerland has set the benchmark for reliable, high-performance watches. However, not every watch made in Switzerland qualifies as Swiss Made. The label may only be used when clearly defined legal criteria are fulfilled.
The Legal Definition of Swiss Made
The Swiss Made designation is defined by Swiss legislation (Swissness regulation, revised in 2017).
To carry the label, a watch must meet all of the following criteria:
- The movement is Swiss
- The watch is assembled in Switzerland
- The final inspection takes place there
- At least 60% of manufacturing costs are generated in Switzerland
These requirements ensure that the essential value creation remains in Switzerland.
